Engineering at Alberta

The Beginning of Anything

The widely accepted reputation of engineering as a rigidly calculated pastime is as decrepit and rickety as the bridges and old men the word “engineer” invokes.

The University of Alberta engineering department sought to expose these outdated misperceptions and replace them with a more honest representation of the diversity and creativity of those brave enough to devote their life to designing, inventing and re-engineering the future.

Alberta’s engineering department already established a world-class facility and collected the cream of the crop faculty to support their goal to ‘expand the definitions of “engineer” and “engineering” to guide us—and the society we serve—forward.’

Nothing is too big for anything

My team and I started at the beginning—where anything is possible and created a new identity and voice to represent engineering for today’s generations and generations to come.

To turn nothing into something you have to believe in anything.
